"High Heels, Red Dress"
If you read the title of this post and thought of the Jonas Brothers, I like you a lot. Yes. I, like so many other women who were 14 years old in 2008, have been enjoying the wave of new and nostalgic excitement that has come with the revival of the Jonas Brothers. And no, this post isn't (entirely) about the JoBros, but they have been a blast from the past reminder of my teen years. And when I was trying to think of how to describe this outfit for this post, my mind went straight to the Burnin' Up music video I watched approximately 1.3 million times during my freshman year of high school. Ah memories.
Also, sorry, but does anyone (outside of an extra) actually wear a red dress in that video? Please confirm.
Anyway, there is definitely a red dress in this post (already confirmed), but this particular dress almost didn't come home with me. If you read my last post, you know I'm trying to be a bit more of a minimalist. When I tried this dress on, I was in minimalist mode. It wasn't really my style. It was a little too tight in some places, and I didn't have a place to wear it. So I put it back. That's right. I put it back, and I kept shopping for probably another hour before I got in line to check out. I'd taken a picture of me in the dress for an instagram try-on story, and was looking at the photo while I was in line. Next thing I know, I'm leaving the line and taking the dress off the return rack.
So it came home with me. Here's the thing: I love it. I love the pockets, the sleeves, the vintage vibes, the neckline. I just really love the dress, but the reasons I originally put it on the return rack still persist. It's too tight. It's not my style, and for those reasons I probably won't ever wear it out. So I'm considering starting an online shop for finds like these, the ones I just cannot pass up, but also shouldn't keep in my closet. I hope I end up wearing it out, but if I'm being honest with myself, chances are slim. It sure is beautiful, though. Isn't it?
Do you have a hard time with buying or holding on to beautiful things? No matter how impractical they might be? Please tell me how you deal, because the more I look at this dress, the more I want to keep it in my closet forever. Outfit details are below :)
